It’s been a heck of a strange winter here in Toronto. What I mean by strange is cold, snowy and without spring. I usually look forward to hanging up my winter clothes by Easter. Toronto occasionally get snow but there are at least a handful of 25 C Degree days that are perfect for sitting on a patio in the sun with a coffee and making some Vitamin D.
Unfortunately not this year. Yesterday May 1, 2013 was my first patio day. I made a stop to go to the bank and realized that I didn’t need a hat gloves and a scarf to make the 30-step walk from the car. After checking my watch I realized that I had enough time to skip the drive-through at my favorite
Second Cup at the Corner of Leslie St. and York Mills and sit down…outside.
5 minutes later I was sitting at a nice clean table soaking up some rays and sipping a small black decaf and a cookie. Looking around I could see a few of my fellow Torontonians leaning back in their chairs with their eyes closed and faces to the sun. Traffic was light, smiling people were strolling across the parking lot in shirt-sleeves and a robin was hopping around on the recently unfrozen grass. It was a collective AHHHH moment.
15 minutes later with only few sips left my bliss was interrupted by an alarm on my Android phone and I was off again. As I rose from the table my fellow coffee sun worshipers were also starting to stir and look at their various iPhones, BlackBerrys and Windows phones. I’m pretty sure that I was in a better mood for the rest of the day. I made a mental note to stroll down Avenue Road this coming Saturday with the dogs and have another 15 minute vacation.
If you have any Coffee Shop AHHH moments this spring please share them with us.
